Virtute et armis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Virtute et armis (Latin "By virtue and arms") is a state motto of Mississippi, accepted as an element of the state seal. It may have been suggested by the motto of Lord Gray De Wilton Virtute non armis fido ("I trust in virtue not arms").

The translation of 'Virtute et Armis' is closer to 'Valor and Arms' (meaning valor in battle), and has also been translated to mean by 'Courage and Arms'.
