Vivian Street
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vivian Street is a one-way arterial street in central Wellington, New Zealand. It forms a part of the country's State Highway 1 network.
It has traditionally had a reputation as a red-light district, particularly in its western half. With the decriminalisation of prostitution in the early 21st century, Vivian Street's 'reputation' is undergoing a revival, with the recent opening of the Il Bordello Gentlemen's Club, and the reopening of the Liks Bar. Between these two establishments is a popular live music venue for underground musicians and other emerging artists of New Zealand, Valve Bar.
Vivian Street's one-way direction will reverse when the Te Aro Bypass is scheduled for completion in 2007.
