Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
- Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

[edit] Indian Railways
To start with: I like the condescending way you posted this sentence: expected more informed people like you to take it up instead of bringing it down. I certainly had reasons to remove as the article is a featured article, or one of the best on wikipedia. Reasons why I had removed content:
- When adding content, cite credible sources. Without a source, certain content can be deleted as 'unsourced'.
- As for the coaches: The article is about the company; to add stuff on coaches etc, it should be correctly placed in/linked in Rail transport in India.
- Unfilled sections like 'Modernization' and few subsections like 'Passenger safety', 'Station cleanliness', 'Coach cleanliness'. -- Having blank subsections reflects poorly on the structure of the article: If content is needed, place a request on the article's talk page.
- Also isn't it's a bit unfair on your part to place empty sections on a page and expect others fill in content? As a railfan you're more than welcome to add content from credible sources and do your bit to improve the coverage of railways in India.
- info calculation rules of FINE imposition (why not as this is faced by several railway passengers). -- isn't this a bit subjective?
- Lastly, as you rightly put it our purpose is to inform readers. However, this is not a complaint forum against the Indian Railways for them to see their pitfalls. Report things as is keeping in mind the neutral point of view.

[edit] Vandalism by 152.12.4.15 on 'Binaca Geetmala' releated pages.
Hi,
Kindly check the link below and you will find the user using this IP is consistently engaged in vandalism, would request to facilitate in blocking this IP (below list suggest it is used by the user in question only)

Thanks,

- I can't really tell if they're obvious vandalism. You'd probably be better off reporting to the administrator's noticeboard for more views. —Mets501 (talk) 12:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding "alleged" Vandalism by 152.12.4.15 on 'Binaca Geetmala' releated pages.
Mr Chauhan
Here is the bottom line - I was the person that started these webpages; however the person who had supplied me with some of the lists had requested me to take them off this website temporarily till Oct/Nov of this year. So I had tried to delete the contents but they were later put up again by Samir among others, I sent a message to Samir requesting him to take down those pages at least till October - however I have had no reply or positive feedback. I would like to request you to do the same i.e take down the lists till Oct/Nov. Also I have every Binaca geetmala annual list from 1954 till 1993. If you guys do choose to keep these pages up denying my request, I will make sure that neither I nor the other people that have access to these lists will ever put up anything in these pages. However if you do hide these lists temporarily, then we will put up all the lists after November. The choice is yours - do you wish a wonderful web resource to be created or do you choose to ignore our request and have these incomplete lists be all the resources that is put up.
Cheers 152.12.4.15 16:23, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reply to your reply
In response to your question, the person who supplied us with at least some of the lists is writing a book which will be published in Oct/Nov: we dont want his book sales to be hurt.
[edit] Re:Your 'rm parent cat, category diffusion' changes
I am afraid you've got the idea of categorization on Wikipedia wrong. From Wikipedia:Categorization: "Categories help users find information, even if they don't know that it exists or what it's called."
"If one knows only the name of university/college", the search box is there to help. Categorization is for organizing the information.
Please see the guidelines on Wikipedia:Categorization#Some_general_guidelines: "Articles should not usually be in both a category and its subcategory". Also, cycles should be avoided (on same page).
As about breaking the category 'University and colleges' in India, you can put forward the proposal at Wikipedia talk:Notice board for India-related topics. utcursch | talk 14:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] cateogry
Please don't revert the removal of the category. It was discussed on Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 October 20 and such category has been disbanded. When you readd it you recreate it, going against stablished consensus, if you persist going against agreed decisions, you may find yousrelf subject to sanctions. -- Drini 17:55, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- You may need to read your own ('wisdom') page more carefully. If you see the pervious checkin by me, the page was not showing the (deleted) category in question, in fact your checkin messed up (visually) my user page and I am not sure whether you feel sorry about it or not. Vjdchauhan 05:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- I must apologize then. The thing is that political-type categories are usaually reverted and fought by users going against the consensus. I'm sorry then. -- Drini 21:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- My response was quite rude, sorry for that. Regards, Vjdchauhan 04:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC).

[edit] IMS-BHU
The article didn't (and still doesn't) say that the Institute has its own hospital. Maybe you can expand the article by adding that info in.
Second, I don't think you're supposed to remove the merge tag before at least one day is up. You're probably the only person who's seen the proposal and removing the tag early does not give others a chance to comment. But since I have no problems with not merging the article, never mind. ;-) Kavadi carrier 10:07, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
P.S. I think the article should be called "Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University" since that is its official name. Kavadi carrier 10:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I am not an IMS-BHU passout so would not be able to contribute there. I agree that the page should be renamed. Lastly sorry for reverting merge tag without waiting for at least a day. With due regards, Vjdchauhan 04:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC).

- Well that's the problem with automated tasks, I deleted complete portion as the Category:Sangrur category page itself was having complete article copied from its main page Sangrur, pls check. Vjdchauhan 17:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimapia
Hello! Look at http://wikimapia.org/#y=8495988&x=76930561&z=18&l=0&m=a&v=2&show=/503821/, there are two marks Pettah railway Overbridge, you will see one place is marked for deletion. It will be deleted in 12 hours. You may cancel deletion. Click Cancel deletion and use delete request in menu! You will see again this sign. Will this work, I mean the deletion? Because I think you pressed the bottom one (it's for normal users). Alexandre Koriakine 11:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- I just tried deleting some heavily oversized boxes using ('UserBox->Menu->Deletion Request') menu at Aligarh at Wikimapia and got pop up sure you wand to delete with OK/Cancel option and on clicking OK threw another popup saying The place is marked for deletion and will be deleted soon with OK button. Reopening the box says This place is marked for deletion. It will be deleted in 12 hours. You may cancel deletion., wonderful. I think you just now raised my privilege level further (earlier it was raised to 2 votes level) and am also seeing a bit changed main popup box where now I cannot see Report Problem->Delete Request menu option at bottom-right of the box (this was the menu using which I deleted some boxes which didn't work always).
Thanks a lot for further enhancing the privilege (on seeing power of this privilege level I think we need 12 hours or some other appropriate gap to revert deletion by mistake).
May be you would like to correct the spelling mistake in sure you wand to delete to sure you want to delete. - They seems to be Hindu Temples not private houses. I don't think people name their houses as Temple. Vjdchauhan 16:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks and nice to meet you (Cat: Kanpur)
Hi,
Thanks for your message. I will definitely add and maintain pages to and in the category you specified. Give me anything more on that region if you find.
--Bobby Awasthi 09:39, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- For that you can also open the page say Kanpur Page and click on 'What links here' link (there in left panel below Go/Search button) to see the pages related to Kanpur, some of them can be added to Kanpur category (that's how I do). Vjdchauhan 09:45, 24 November 2006 (UTC).
[edit] District-wise categories
I was doing some cleanup on that page. And moving older stuff out. I have started writing the program to move towns in district level categories. It will take some time to complete. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 16:44, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Platform independent C++ counterpart for ActiveX Data Objects and 'VARIANT'
In general, you should probably read up on STL, and have a good look at Boost. Now to the specifics. One of the best C++ 'variant' implementations is probably boost::any. To get "record-like" functionality, you can simply use std::map<std::string, boost::any>
. A container of those - std::vector, std::list or std::deque, depending on your needs, would be analogous to a detached recordset. What more, boost::multi_indexed_container allows for an arbitrary number of custom indices on in-memory data for fast lookup. -- int19h 19:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ”See also” and/or “nav box”
To be honest, I’m not that sure about it myself (sorry to revert you so bluntly there). Major problem could be that when only vaguely related links are included in the see also section (that are not in the nav box), people tend to think that’s all there is. It’s mostly unclear that the nav box contains the “primary” see also links. --Van helsing 13:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
