VTM or Vlaamse Televisie Maatschappij is the main commercial television station in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking north of Belgium.
It went live in 1989 and quickly became the market leader. It can be received on cable or by satellite in Flanders.
VMMa, or Vlaamse Media Maatschappij, is the mother company which also operates the TV channels KanaalTwee and JIM. Next to that they operate the radio channel Q-Music. In 2005 there were talks about VMMa buying the Flemish part of Canal Plus from Telenet but this fell through. In 2006 rumours were spread that the RTL Group would buy 50% of VMMa. VTM as wel as RTL denied those plans.
As of 2004, VTM has lost its market dominance back to the public broadcaster VRT.
