Wachusett
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Wachusett" is a word derived from the Algonquian languages once spoken by the Native Americans of Massachusetts and means something like "near the mountain" or "mountain place".
It is the name of a mountain in Massachusetts and most uses of the word derive derectly from that mountain or its vicinity. However, less direct uses of the name (such as it being used for a street in an area of Boston, Massachusetts) may have come about indirectly, such as being named after the warship named after the mountain.
