Wadakanchery

Wadakanchery is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala state, south India.
This place is usually confused with a place in Palakkad district called Vadakencherry.
St. Francis Xaviers Forane Church is situated here. Uthralikkavu pooram festival takes place at the Sri Rudhramahakalikkavu Temple usually in the month of February.
The Thrissur - Shornur State Highway passes through Wadakanchery. The nearest airport is Cochin International which is 80 km south of Wadakanchery.
Wadaknchery has its special place in the cultural circle of Kerala. Many famous film and literature activities were born and brought up here. This includes film director Bharathan, actor Oduvil Unnikrishnan and Kathakali singer Kalamandalam Hyderali.
