Wahid Qasemi (Persian: وحید قاسمی) is an Afghan singer. His popularity soared in the late 80s when he first emerged into the Afghan music scene. He is also regarded for his affable personality that his fans claim have absorbed his critics. Qasemi is the grandson of a famous Afghan singer, who served as the official artist to the Afghan Royal court. Qasemi is a tradional musical artist, specializing in the Kharabati style of Afghan classical music.
After the fall of Afghan government to the mujahideen, he immigrated to Germany from where he moved to the United States. He now lives in Canada, continuing his career from that state. Mr. Qasemi has returned to Afghanistan several times, working on preserving traditional Afghan musical styles. He collaborated with Troubadour productions to produce "Qu Qu Qu, Barge Chinar: Children's Songs from Afghanistan", a children's songbook capturing traditional children's songs. The book has lyrics, musical notes, and an accompanying CD.
