Walter Bernacca (born January 18, 1961) is a Video Editor, Post-Production Supervisor and Co-Director.
Bernacca was born in 1961 in Osasco (São Paulo – Brazil), and grew up in São José dos Campos (São Paulo – Brazil), where he started his career as a Disc Jockey in radios and nightclubs.
In the early 90’s, he traveled around Brazil spinning for several nightclubs, earning him a three-time nomination as Top 3 DJ in Brazil (DMC – Disco Mix Club). Bernacca also contributed and has credits in albums from Universal Music Group, Warner Music and BMG Music.
In 2000, Bernacca changed careers and began working as a producer for HBO/Cinemax in Miami, FL. Three years later, Bernacca wrote, directed and edited "Universo DJ: Julinho Mazzei", a documentary that follows the life of one of the most important Brazilian radio DJs of all times.
Since 2003, Walter Bernacca and his partner Paulo DeMello have been working on short films, including “Coffee Chronicles”, which became an official selection in the 2003 Tampa Film Festival.
In 2005, Bernacca moved to Los Angeles, California, and has credits as an Editor and Post-Production Supervisor in various television shows, cable channels, and documentaries. Among these is “The Third World California", a documentary depicting the appalling conditions experienced by undocumented immigrants living within an Indian reservation in the California desert. The documentary was an official selection in the 22nd Chicago Latino Film Festival and the 2006 DOCUSUR Marketing in Spain.
In 2006, Bernacca re-edited feature-length films for Unicine/ Univision, as well as edited a patriotic DVD for legendary singer Pat Boone’s Gold Label “For My Country,” having to do with the heroic United States National Guard.
For 2007, Walter Bernacca already has plans to work for two feature-length films; “Diving to Life”, about the extreme danger free-diving Brazilian lobster fishermen expose themselves to on a daily basis, and “Eye of The Camera”, a story about Grammy winner Mark “Aldo” Miceli, Madonna’s music video director in “The Girlie Show (Live Down Under)”.
