Walter McGowan

Walter McGowan, MBE (born 13 October 1942 in Burnbank, Scotland), is a retired Scottish boxer. The pinnacle of McGowan's career came in 1966, when he became the WBC Flyweight Champion of the World, defeating Salvatore Burruni at the Empire Pool in London. McGowan also won the British and Commonwealth titles in both the Flyweight and Bantamweight divisions. He was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in 2002, alongside the likes of Scottish boxing great Ken Buchanan.
