The Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Building is part of the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) and was established in 1970, although many of its component units have been operating for much longer.
The health sciences schools are Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Community Medicine, and Social Work. The Health Sciences Center is home to five major interdisciplinary research centers and administers the campuswide Department of Environmental Health and Safety and the Hall Health Primary Care Center.
The UW has an Academic Medical Center that includes the School of Medicine, University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center, and UW Physicans Neighborhood Clinics. The UW is also a partner in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
The main building of the Health Sciences Center extends along Portage Bay at the south end of campus. Other facilities, including Harborview Medical Center, are located off campus. The School of Medicine provides medical education for students in Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho through its WWAMI program.
The Warren G. Magnuson HSB is the second largest office building in the United States, with a total floor area of 5,740,200 square feet. (The Pentagon is the largest building in the United States).
