Washington Township, Clinton County, Ohio

Washington Township, one of thirteen townships in Clinton County, Ohio, United States, is located in the south central part of the county between Wilmington and Martinsville. In 2000, the population was 1,895 up from 1,475 in 1990. The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District.
It is bordered on the south by Jefferson Township, on the west by Marion and Vernon Townships, on the northwest by Adams Township, on the north by Union Township, on the east by Green Township, and on the southeast by Clark Township.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
Part of Cowan State Park is located here. (The park is also in Vernon and Adams Townships).
Major roads are U.S. Route 68 and State Routes 28 and 350.
The township is one of forty-three Washington Townships in Ohio.
