Talk:Waveland, Mississippi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"A loosely knit group of hippies called the "Rainbow Family" arrived in Waveland soon after Hurricane Katrina. From early September 2005 to early December 2005, they ran the "New Waveland Cafe & Clinic" located in the parking lot of Fred's Dept Store on Hwy 90." Wasn't it a church from Orange Beach that started the Waveland Cafe & Clinic? - Ben
No a Christian group from Bastrop Texas started "The New Wavland Cafe". When taking a break for supplies ran up with one of the Rainbow folks (Felipie) who was scouting for a new site to help (I was in anouther caravan to join him). BCOC asked for help and we helped. It would be more proper to say that BCOC started it but Rainbow volenteered to help them (but ended up being the bigger volenteer) rather than the other way around as it currently states. - Thanks, Hawker, for responding. I built and ran the New Waveland Clinic for the entire time it was open (3 months, Sept to Dec 05) and was present during the entire duration of the Rainbow Family's relief efforts. BCOC volunteers usually didnt volunteer in the clinic, but occationally a nurse or doc would contact me through them in order to volunteer their services. Bstone 00:20, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
