Wenlock Edge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wenlock Edge is a limestone escarpment near Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England. It is 15 miles long and runs from South West to North East between Craven Arms and Much Wenlock. It is so large that it can be seen from space. The decidouos woodland which runs along it, covers much of the escarpment and in parts is very well preserved. It is perhaps best known as the setting for A. E. Housman's poem "On Wenlock Edge the Wood's in Trouble".
It was featured on the 2005 TV programme Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the Midlands.
