WFBT-CA is a low-power, time brokered, ethnic television station licensed in Blue Island, Illinois, serving the Chicago market on channel 48. The station is owned by Weigel Broadcasting, which also owns Chicago independent station WCIU-TV. Its programming was previously on channel 23, which Weigel converted to "MeTV," and changed the call letters to WWME-CA. WFBT is digitally broadcast on a subchannel of WCIU-DT. Its programming includes that from China Star TV, Polvision, and Namaste America (Indian), as well as weekend Greek, Filipino, and Spanish language programs (some by local producers).
WFBT-CA has applied to receive a companion low-power digital television assignment from the Federal Communications Commission. If the request is fulfilled, WCIU will pull WFBT from its digital subchannel.
