[edit] Limited Series?
What The--?! did start out as a limited series of four issues. At the end of the four issue run, the inside back cover had a page illustrated/written by Fred Hembeck asking readers to mail Marvel to say how much the reader loved the comic and wanted to see more. Also, the "Bullish Bulletins" opposite that strongly indicated that issue 4 was the last issue of the limited series-but hinted of a possible return. Finally, the inside front cover of issue 4 said "Next issue: There ain't none!"
Issue 5 was released approximately eight months later, and the comic continued from there with an irregular schedule (although it did go bi-monthly for a time). If there are no objections, I'll update the entry with this information. Gjd001 16:09, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Updated entry indicating limited series status. Original entry read:
What The--?! is rumored to have begin with a with a four issue limited series. However, there is some mystery behind this claim. The publishing information of the 26 issue volume of What The?! is listed as being "Volume 1".The curious thing about this listing is unlike DC Comic's policy at the time, Marvel would consider limited run series as a volume in a comic titles franchise. For Example Issue #13 of What The--?! is listed as "Vol.1, No. 13". So if there was a 4 issue series of What The--?! predating the 26 issue series, issue #13 would be listed as "Vol. 2, No. 13". Thus until copies of the first volume can be found, the validity of a limited run 4 issue volume is lacking proof at this time.
