[edit] GUnitJt7 & 67.168.23.153
Hola. Compare the contribs of GUnitJt7 and 67.168.23.153, and you'll see the pattern. Just changes the numbers slightly; hoping no one will notice. I've compared the numbers at the RIAA and Billboard sites with his edits, and they don't match up. He's been hitting other articles too. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks! -- weirdoactor t|c -- 02:36, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted Page Revision History
Hi Where. I was wondering if it is possible to see the contents of a page before it was deleted.
PS: Re the e-mail I sent you: My IP got unblocked, and now I can start editing again!
Tyson Moore es 21:47, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I was wondering (I don't want to take up too much of your time, but) could you please send me the contents of User:Tabaris, as it used to contain a wikithreat (per-se), and I need it to persue a block for threats, as I have recieved many more from him (or his socks).
- Thanks

[edit] C2 domain, Pfam/Interpro summaries, and copyright
We had a discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Molecular_and_Cellular_Biology about using open source annotations of protein families from Pfam/Interpro database: [1] I have created a few articles by copying and editing such summaries (that saves a lot of time!). This may have a big impact because there are many hundreds (or even thousands) of decent quality open source summaries on biological subjects currently not included in Wikipedia.
One of them (article about C2 domain) has been detected as copyvio, although everything is perfectly legal (we even have a letter from Alex Bateman who is Pfam author - he encouraged us to use their summaries). So, some similar false positive copyvio messages may appear in the future. The "original" text may have the following addresses:
because InterPro summaries are included not only to InterPro itself but also to databases Pfam and SMART. However, the InterPro summaries can be used by many people or resources (since they are freely availabe), so there is a possible overlap with texts in many different places. Biophys 01:34, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
I am not an expert here. I thought everything was fine since we asked for permission from one of the authors of the database and received it. It is common practice that people copy those summaries. If you think there are any potential problems, I will not copy anything from there in the future. So far, I did this for maybe 6 or 7 articles and made some modifications. Do you think I should edit these aricles further (basically they are stubs), so there will be no copyright questions anymore? Thanks. Biophys 02:11, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- It seems they indeed operate under GPL license, which is not appropriate for Wikipedia, although their group leader allowed us to use their summaries. So, I am not going to copy anything from Pfam in the future. Sorry, I thought that was a good idea. Biophys 04:24, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wherebot on Wikiversity
Hiya Where, I just deleted a few fairly obvious copyright violations on Wikiversity which Wherebot didn't catch. Is it still running on Wikiversity? Seems to be rather dormant lately. Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 00:40, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Barnstar

The Barnstar of Diligence | |
I award this barnstar to Where for Wherebot for helping ensure Wikipedia finds copyright violations before they become a problem and undertaking the tedious work that many of us do not wish to do. Tawker 22:46, 28 December 2006 (UTC) |
- I think Wikipedia would have some major problems w/ Wherebot offline. Do you have the capacity to have Wherebot do diff checks similar to AntiVandalBot's operation. It might be a useful function but I don't think it would fit in running it w/ AntiVandalBot (it's already overloaded as is) :) -- Tawker 22:46, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An assistant to Wherebot
Hey, Where! I like your Wherebot, so I was wondering if you could make me a modified version that:
- Checked articles based on Special:Random instead of the new articles list
- Yahoo-search each sentence in the article (I'll get my own API account)
- Throttle the searching so Yahoo doesn't get pissed off
- List offending articles and URLs when applicable?
I'll run the script under my own bot account. Let me know if it's possible. ★MESSEDROCKER★ 21:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- A month is not too long at all! Also, this bot doesn't need to run on the toolserver -- I have no problem running it on my own computer (or at least I have no problem setting up a Linux box to run it, though the former is preferred). ★MESSEDROCKER★ 02:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Just a couple of things I want to make sure I've pointed out: in addition to the sentence being searched, add "-wikipedia" (without the quotes) at the end of the query. Additionally, the sentence being searched should not be wrapped in quotes, and if there's at least 70% match, list as a potential copyright threat. Thank you!! ★MESSEDROCKER★ 11:48, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your revert of my edit to Salford (UK Parliament constituency)
Please review the history of this page, my edit was designed to removed unsourced POV comments that a number of IP addresses have been attempting for weeks to add to this article and Hazel Blears in clear violation of WP:NPOV, WP:V and WP:POINT. I hope you will remove the vandal warning template from my talkpage- they are not really appropriate for use on established users in any event. Yours, WJBscribe (WJB talk) 23:52, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- In future may I suggest checking your talk page for any responses to your reversions using VP before logging out of Wikipedia. I look forward to hearing from you when you next log in. WJBscribe (WJB talk) 00:59, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the apology. No harm done. WJBscribe (WJB talk) has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy editing!

[edit] your reversion to Controlled demolition hypothesis for the collapse of the World Trade Center using VP
While the edits made may require diwscussion on the talk page I cannto see how VP flagged them as vandalism. Now another editor is busy reverting reversions of your VP edit. Please will you go to the article talk page and handle the matter? Fiddle Faddle 01:28, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] sigContract isn't working for me
I like the idea of sigContract, and it sounds good in theory. However, I have added the script to the very end of my monobook.js and it does not contract sigs. I added the comments to my signature as described on the script's page, but no luck. Do I have to remove the comment below the script to make it work? ---Voyagerfan5761 01:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Just removed the comment anyway, and it still doesn't work. ---Voyagerfan5761 01:41, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Nothing
Hello, I noticed that you created Template:Nothing back in July. Does Wherebot still use it? It is transcluded on 14 pages; if you wish, I could remove the transclusions (really minor target for vandalism, etc.)
I mention this because I would like to use it (substing {{<includeonly>subst:<includeonly>{{{1|}}}}} does not work, but doing the same for {{<includeonly>subst:<includeonly>{{{1|Nothing}}}}} does) on a template that I made (actually, a meta-template; WP:AUM was rejected by the community). I hope you don't mind if I do that (apparently not the tempalte's original purpose), and maybe adjust the text between the <noinclude> tags to reflect its multiple (?) uses. [edit] Easy DB is putting my monobook up for deletion!
Hi. I've just put your Easy DB script into my monobook, but it's putting my monobook into Category:Candidates for speedy deletion. This occurs whether I put the script at the beginning or the end.
I already have the following scripts in there:
Do you have any idea why this might be happening?

[edit] Update to your test-enhanced script is needed
Do you intend to update Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/test-enhanced to support the new user warning templates? If so, please add tooltips. I can't tell what some of the tabs are. I don't want to experiment. Will (Talk - contribs) 10:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Followup on the bot
Hi there... I hope I'm not annoying you, but I'm just wondering how much progress you've made (if any) on the proposed bot I've mentioned above, and if any circumstances have changed since the almost-a-month-ago when I originally asked you. Thank you! —Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 05:55, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- The WMBot will still be able to inspect entire articles, right? —Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 12:06, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm against only checking the beginning of paragraphs, because I certainly believe copyright-infringing passages can be inserted in the middle of the paragraph as well, and so all will have been in vain. Let's not make time a factor; since WhereBot is inspecting all the new articles, WMBot can inspect all the old articles; ergo there's only a need to run it once and time is not really a factor. Do you see what I mean? —Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 18:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wherebot Down?
Is the mighty Wherebot feeling ok? It hasn't reported an SCV in almost a day and the WGnomes are getting restless!
And, if down, will it pick up with contribs from the time it went down or skip to whatever's posted after it comes back online (i.e., should we be spending time looking manually for copyvios)?
Thanks!! --Butseriouslyfolks 04:44, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
