I just read your comment concerning the user Gavil/Gabriel et al. This lead me to your user page and while scrolling down I noticed your taxobox. Check out the on I got off of another user a couple days ago. I used it on (so far) the [Calabar Python] and Woma Python articles. It looks pretty good and works Also, how were you able to copy the actual text code for the one you have on your user page? I tried copying and pasting to mine but it just put in the taxobox like you would see in the article space. And another question you might answer, why isn't the link the [Calabar Python] showing up on this post? I been checking this for a few minutes and the article is there. I have no idea why. • Howdy! The [Calabar Python] articles aren't linking because you're missing a set of square brackets, like Calabar Python.  :) As for getting the actual text to show up it is pretty easy, you just need to tell the wiki not to format it. For small blocks you can use the <nowiki> tags (you also have to close it with a similarly formated /nowiki (ie with the ><). It's hard to show these so the don't get formatted.  :) For a larger section like I use, I simply use pre and /pre tags (with ><) around. The pre stuff is pure html, so I just knew that. For other things I learn a lot by editting the page that has something on it, and then just not saving. Ie, use edit to view the code. HTH Wikibofh 19:58, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you dear Wikibofh for your suggestion in order to comply it to higher standards. It is not my intention to write an article, but just a section as it is in the main article, focusing some key aspects given from my perspective, perspective of a foreign Friend of "Mount Ecclesia" work around the world. My English language skills are not "up to date" to write in way more formal but it is a task I proposed myself to do related to these subjects according to knowledge of them I have acquired. So I ask you my friend if you may aid on this small task rewriting the section to a higher standard but without loosing the ideas and empathy from anonymous friends, as myself, towards "The Ecclesia" intended to get through to users, as information, in each paragraph? Please do accept this small request related to those brief lines on Mount Ecclesia; Thank you once more.

• I didn't have a problem with you adding it. It's mostly the copyedit work to make it neutral and cleaning up some of the language. That's not my strong point, so I added the template so that hopefully other people could take a look at it and help. I think some of the religion stuff is a bit too much, but I think we can get edits that still try to get the points you're working on across. Hi! I removed the comment from DJ'S user page, but I didn't think to leave a copy on his talk page. It seemed like a vandal rather than an actual memo or note. I suppose it's better to have a record of the comment, in case anybody would want to take formal action against the critical individual. Anyways, next time I think to revert a user page, do you think I should leave a copy on the talk page? I'm still trying to figure out proper protocol. Thanks! • I agree it seemed like a vandal. My thoughts are to move it to the talk page and let the owner decide what they want to do. As a general rule I leave people's home and talk pages alone, I figure they can defend themselves.  :) In this case I wanted to make it known since the sig was different than the contributor. I was going to have to add the unsigned template anyway, so I figured I'd move it. I'd done the cut to do the paste as you reverted the page, so I didn't worry about the second part. I'm not sure there is a protocol about this, and we have enough other protocols that I just try to do what is right and let it sort itself out. I also cut-n-pasted the same thing into the other users' talk pages this vandal did. It's not the exact text, but it was faster, they can see it, and it conveyed the meaning so they are alert. • Seems reasonable. I don't see IPs blocked indefinitely very often so I take the "forewarned is forearmed" approach. Especially since I can't do the blocking. You can, I think that also makes sense. • I think having teacher profiles as a section in the article is great. If the article itself gets too big we can even break it out into a single page for all of them. The previous objection was to an article for every one of them. If they were good pieces in their own section that got too big, I don't see any issue with that. Thanks for asking! Copied from User talk:Pollinator I saw your comment on removing the link. I considered removing it, but if you look at the license for the photos on the sight, they are released with something that looks compatible with GFDL to me (as opposed to some of the photos behind the other links). For someone who can identify the species the images might be useful in some of our articles, so I left it so that perhaps we could use it to upgrade other items. I realize that we aren't responsible for the content of sites we link to, but that was a bit too blatant an error for me - on a site that supposedly is all about insects. Thank you for your interest in the JS, Jr. article. I was aware of the anon.'s series of edits, but hadn't yet interferred. Participants in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Latter Day Saint movement seek to encourage anon. and other editors as much as possible, and so we try to incorporate their changes (if possible) to make them feel welcome. The material this anon was adding is fairly innocuous (by any standards) and is actually pretty well known stuff in LDS/Mormon cultures. So, it is unlikely the anon. would have had sources to hand. Whether it would have stayed as long term elements of the article is another matter, of course. Even so, thanks for your vigilance. Joseph Smith and other LDS related articles get vandalized regularly, and the more "eyes" out the better. Best wishes. WBardwin 20:37, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Maybe a little point of view -- but actually based on some known facts and accounts.

• Nauvoo became the model for many communities in the western United States. Nauvoo's city platt design, by Joseph Smith, has been cited in architectural journals over the years and even used in selected areas of the country. It was also used extensively as a model for founding communities in the Great Basin by the LDS population, and is still apparent in most Utah communities.
• At the start of the following session, Smith would begin at the very point where he had left off, never asking for the previous session's writings to be read back to him. Documented in a number of contemporary journals and accounts, including Oliver Cowdery and Emma Hale Smith, if memory serves.

• If both of these are the case, then it should be easy to cite.  :) I just did a quick google trying to find something on the impact of the Nauvoo design and didn't see anything relevant. I'm not claiming you aren't right, just I can't verify it, so we should get a good source. I think the second one would be more contentious because the contemporary accounts are going to be criticized (obviously enough) by critics as unreliable. Looking at it, I think most of that section should be removed and should point to the main article of Book of Mormon where it can get a more complete treatment. Comments? I can surely find a paper source for the Nauvoo design thing -- most of the city planning material predates the internet. I grew up in a little Idaho town based on the Nauvoo design. And most of Utah's major cities -- with their infamous numbered grids -- are based on the same idea.

Here's one possible article -- will have to read it. Enders, Donald L., "Plotting the City Beautiful: A Historical and Archaeological Glimpse of Nauvoo Streets" (1979), BYU Studies, 19:3:409.

The other material -- well, contemporary accounts are all we have. This is a problem in most historical/religious areas. No documentation other than that produced by movement members is generally available, and certainly no media reports. So the account of the production of the Book of Mormon is going to be LDS oriented. Critics, in significantly later periods, question the original sources, but we find little "questioning" material during the original time periods.

As for the content of the Joseph Smith article itself, most sections are summaries to the other articles. If we try cutting everything on a topic out, someone else comes along and puts it back in. I think a lot of readers think of it as a generic Mormon article. Drop by the project site -- we welcome people with different perspectives, and we have lots of viewpoints there. • • Hell, I predate the internet.  :) If you have access to the paper copy of that, go ahead, grab it, summarize it and then stick a version of that sentence back in. If you don't know, the book reference templates are useful for "offline" sources. (You can find some of the ones that I use at my references).

Now, as for problems with "contemporary accounts", next thing you know you'll be bagging on the Bible!  :) I'm kidding. I understand the problems. I agree that constant referencing around can be problematic, but I have an issue with this article being the generic starting point. I would argue that one of the variations on Latter Day Saints or even Mormonism is a much better "generic starting point"....although thinking about it, Jesus as a "generic starting point" for Christianity doesn't seem that far fetched. Let me let that that stew.

Several times recently, I have reverted edits using the word "lynched" to describe JSmith's death (on the Joseph Smith, Jr. and Death of Joseph Smith, Jr. articles). I also noted your recent revert. Of course, it is an accurate word, given its general meaning: "to put to death by mob action without legal sanction." However, to general readers and editors, I think it implies death by hanging due to historic lynchings in the US Southern States. It is also a more POV word than "assassinated" or "killed." Given the word's accuracy, however, do you think we should continue to revert? Please reply on the talk page of Death of Joseph Smith, Jr. so others can join in the discussion. Thank you. Hello, I changed the formatting on List_of_Characters_in_The_Chronicles_of_Narnia and you reverted it. I was just wondering if there was a correct way to format that second paragraph of the list item. I looked on Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page but the best I could find there was inserting 2 line breaks. • Ah...ok...all I saw was the breaks, not the intent. What you want to do is return it once, and then preface it with a *. Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:Wikibofh/Archive2/monobook.js:

  • Looks good. I like the colored bars on the side. The biggest issue is making version of this for every vandal template, because there is test, spam, test#-n and blanking (which I don't remember). Perhaps one idea would be to simplify this too. The test and the -n could be fixed if it took an optional arg that was the page. Wikibofh 15:36, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
    • If this gains wide acceptance, we could simply change all the current warning templates to fit the guide. Failing that unlikely event, I can design a guide version of every warning template and, once they're agreed upon, move them parallel to the current templates. This way, users can simply add g to the template they wish to use ({{gtest1}}, {{gtest1-n}}, {{gblanking}}, et cetera). Concerning the guide warning templates (see User:Pathoschild/templates/warnings/warnings for the list so far), I've resolved all but one of the issues I've personally found with my original rough versions. The remaining problem relates to a feature of the guide templates I'd very much like to retain: the same templates can be used to name a specific article (ie, {{test|User:Wikibofh}}) or as a general warning (ie, {{test|}}). This is accomplished using the conditional {{if}} template to include or exclude "This message concerns the article {{{1}}}."

Ideally, warning templates should be subst'd on user talk pages. I'm uncertain if this should apply to {{if}}; does it require the same server resources "normal" templates do? If so, is there a way to do the same without referring to the template (for example, perform the code entirely in the warning template when posted, without calling a second template)? The technical aspects, if possible, are beyond my grasping at the moment.

Although the conditional inclusion is one of the main changes I'm attempting with the guide templates, they defeat the point if they must be manually subst'd (twice!) after subst'ing the warning template itself. I'm going to continue experimenting, but my success is likely to be negligable on this aspect. Further, I know of no-one with the technical knowledge or skill to help. [edit] AfD for the NFL/NHL lists

I figure this might be a bit controversial, so I'm going to write up why I closed them the way I did.

The first thing that I did was to look at the individually. It looked like from there that there would probably not be consensus. However, since they all have roughly the same participants I decided to just treat them as a single large vote.

I then counted all of the votes (merge=keep) for all 4 and it came up 30 delete and 12 keep (71% delete, borderline consensus). I was concerned though about this number having repeated votes on the block of 4 skewing the numbers, so I went through all four and wrote down the unique users in one of the two vote catgories. This created a list of 15 delete votes (L.E., Rhio,Kjko,xol,MiB,Karma,J.Ngu,Happy,The Tom,Croat,Fvw,Jkell,Ryan,NLU,MCB) versus 8 keeps (Hoss,Jara,Master,Kappa,RGT,CLW,Anet,RogerD) which is 61%. No consensus. So, keep.

For the record, had I voted, it would have been for delete. I think the lists are inherently POV.

The reason I had mentioned the fact that this city had undergone this incident was that I had seen this material on SEVERAL UFO sites,TV Documentaries(Have Satellite TV),heard about this on the radio,LIVE, as various callers called Art Bell during the show about the incident AS it was going on. This incident has been videotaped,photographed.I had even been to the Phoenix,AZ area, once while getting a $60,000 trailer (RV) fixed, the people were discussing this indident as if it were the Roswell Incident happening all over again. I travel the US as a prospector and as a Metal Detector Enthusiast. I was even in the S. AZ. area as well, and it was the SAME thing,only the talk was about a LARGE cheveron(Like a US Army's Private First Class's insignia)/Boomerang shaped construct seen all over the area. While I was there, I had decided to investigate this matter personally, and found out that the "official explanation" needs a lot to be desired.Hey, its a famous incident, like what happened at Roswell,NM. Did find some quartz crystals, a little gold on a GPAA site(GPAA is a gold prospecting organization) in AZ.The website for this organization is http//:www.goldprospectors.org [3]. They're also featured on the Outdoor Channel, the one with the moose in the logo.My family and I were members of GPAA long ago.

• I didn't remove it, I just moved it to the See Also section. My thought would be if it's significant there ought to be an article that fits it better, or a section in the Phoenix article that was more appropriate. For what it's worth, I was here when it happened. It was interesting, but that's not my cup of tea. There was another one about a year ago from a weather balloon that was also highly publicized.
