A project to create, complete and harmonise the pages on Wikipedia concerning baronetcies

[edit] About our lists and the tables below
The List of extant Baronetcies is a list of every current or extant baronetcy, including currently unproven ones. They used to be in separate pages for each kind (NS, UK, etc.), but now are all on one page, with separate tables for each kind. The tables themselves (on the List of extant Baronetcies) are ordered strictly by precedence, i.e., the official number in the first column, which is based on the full date of creation.
- Note to editors: If we have a number wrongly, please correct it.
The "List of baronetcies of . . ." lists are meant to become a complete list of every baronetcy that has ever existed, including not only the current/extant baronetcies, but also all extinct baronetcies and currently unproven and dormant baronetcies.
The two sets of lists therefore are not exactly reflexive; rather, the extant lists are a subset of the Complete lists, and sorted by date.
The tables are merely tools to assist us in keeping track of current tasks.

A "Not done" in the column means that it needs a volunteer to compare our now-finished extant list to the various Lists of baronetcies, adding the appropriate missing Baronetcies to the latter. When you've completed a task, please change the appropriate "Not done" to a "done" in the table below so to that we can celebrate!
[edit] Adding the Unproven baronetcies to our lists
A "No" in the column means that it needs a volunteer to compare our now-finished extant list to the various Lists of baronetcies, adding the appropriate missing Baronetcies to the latter. Please do not put as of June 2006 or by the Registrar of the Baronetage on the lists (1) because SCB will be changing their website and many were dormant/unproven/under review before and (2) because Lists is going to be seriously too long in any event. When you've completed a task, please change the appropriate "No" to a "Yes" in the table below so to that we can celebrate!
[edit] Adding the Rayment baronetcies to our lists
A "No" in this table means that a volunteer needs to compare the list with Rayment (made easy by the links above each table) and add missing info to our list. The tables correspond to the pages in Rayment.
For each baronetcy listed in Rayment:
- check to see if it's listed on our list(s) - meaning List of (each) and (if it is extant) List of extant Baronetcies. If not, add it. Be sure you insert it in the proper order for that list! The Extant Lists are by creation date; the Complete Lists are alphabetical.
- check/add the full creation date
- check/add a note on the status, and whether the holder is also a peer, as appropriate for the particular list you're working on. Some are shown as Dormant on Baronetage of (each) and as Extant on List of (each) - in which case Extant should be changed to Dormant.
- create the appropriate page called e.g. Abdy Baronets.
When you've completed comparing a page in Rayment with one of our lists below, please change the "No" to a "Yes" in the table below so that we can celebrate!
- So far, only Abdy (meaning Abdy to Anson) and Anstruther (meaning the remaining "A"s) have been listed below, so one of us needs to create all the others. The "labels" (e.g. Abdy, Anstruther, etc) were determined from Rayment's page.

[edit] Double barrelled names and mergers with other titles
Where there is a double barrelled name, eg Harbord-Hamond a page should be created called Harbord-Hamond Baronets. That page should have [[Category:Baronetcies]] on it, even if it redirects to another name - as Harbord-Hamond redirects to Baron Suffield (but might have redirectd to Hamond). It is intended that all family surnames should be listed in [[Category:Baronetcies]].
For alphabetizing, please use the last name listed, e.g., Home-Purves-Hume-Campbell should be in lists at Campbell. This policy is up for discussion on the project's discussion page.
