This is a proposed guideline for WP:CFB. It is not all-inclusive. As in all things, in order for an article to exist on Wikipedia, there should be reliable sources of information and the article cannot be original research.

Players are considered notable if they meet any of the following criteria:
- They have been drafted by the NFL or are iminently expected to be drafted by the NFL
- They have won any respected national award or been named as an All-American by any respected service
- In Division I-FBS (formerly I-A) only, the player has been selected first team all conference
- The player meets one of the criteria given in Wikipedia:Notability (people), unrelated to football.
In the case of any minor awards, such as player of the week, or an outstanding achievement in a single game, the player should be mentioned in the "team year" article for his respective team, but not

- All head coaches of notable teams are considered notable
- Any assistant coach who would have been considered notable when he was a player is considered notable
- Any assistant coach who has received any respected national award is considered notable.

- All Division I-FBS teams are considered notable.
- A lower division team is considered notable if it is or has been a major power in its division.

- Any well-maintained team year page for a notable team is considered acceptable.
[edit] Individual Games
An individual game is considered notable if any of the following is true:
- The game is known for a unique event in college football, such as the fifth down.
- The game is the national championship game for a given season
- The game is a source of major controversey and major media coverage that goes beyond merely reporting the result and recap of the game
