Wikipedia:WikiProject Saivism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Saivam, or Saivism as called by the English educated, considers Shiva as its primary God. Truly speaking, although Saivism is considered as a part of Hinduism, it is a religion by itself. It can be put on equal footing with other major religions of the world based on the number of adherents, literature, beliefs, practices, philosophy and sub sects that are peculiar to this ancient tradition. In the history of mankind perhaps there is no other divinity who has been revered for so long, in so many forms and in so many diverse cultures as Siva. Variously called as Shiva, Saivam as practiced today can be divided into three sectarian religions [1].
The Siddhanta Saivam is prevailing not only in South India, but also in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries where Tamils are living. The philosophy of this religion is Saiva Siddhanta.
These are only suggestions, things to give you focus and to get you going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. But if you don't know what to write or where to begin, following the guidelines below may be helpful. Mainly, we just want you to write articles!
