Wildlife trade

The trade in wildlife is a serious conservation problem. Globally Wildlife Trade is second largest illegal trade in volume, and comes only next to narcotics and is followed by arms and ammunition. Its the most serious threat to a number of endangered and vulnerable species. Trade in wildlife is addressed by the CITES (Convention of International Trade in Endangered species of Fauna and Flora and has about 170 member countries. the XIV COP of CITES is scheduled to be held at Geneva in June 2007.
