Willem Korsten (born 21 January 1975 in Nijmegen, Gelderland) is a former Dutch football (soccer) player. He was a left winger.
Korsten played in Holland for NEC Nijmegen and Vitesse Arnhem where he played well enough to earn a loan move to Leeds United. In this short amount of time Korsten showed he had the pace, skill and strength to cope with English football and Leeds decided to pursue a permanent transfer.[citation needed] However, Tottenham Hotspur also made a bid for the Dutch midfielder which was accepted.[citation needed] Korsten chose to join Tottenham Hotspur permanently instead for a fee in the region of £1.5 million.[citation needed]
Korsten will be best remembered for scoring two spectacular goals for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester United on final day of the 2000-01 season, a match which proved to be his last as a professional footballer.[citation needed]
Due to injuries, his career was cut short at the age of 26.
