Willis the Bouncer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Willis is a Martian creature called a Bouncer from the novel Red Planet by Robert A. Heinlein. In the book Willis is the friend of the book's main character, Jim Marlowe. Near the end of the book, Dr. Macrae hypothesized that Willis was merely an adolescent Martian, and that after hibernating he would assume the form of one of the gigantic Martians.
[edit] Characteristics
Willis is described as a small furry ball, with his appendages hidden and produced at will. Among the appendages are eyes, walking stubs and a claw used for cutting. Willis's main feature however is his ability to record entire conversations, and being able to play back the messages perfectly, even so far as to mimic the voices and background noise in the message. This tool was used several times throughout the novel, as Willis was able to record key conversations as proof for the wrongdoings going about on Mars at the time.
