Dark Spot 2 is a southern cyclonic storm and was the second most intensive storm on the planet Neptune in 1989 when Voyager II flew by the planet. When first discovered, it was a dark cyclonic storm. As Voyager II approached the planet, a bright core of cloud activity developed.^{[citation needed]}
