[edit] HISTORY
WKDQ was a AC/oldies hybrid in the 80s, while it did reasonable, management saw more of a opportunity to Challenge then WYNG(now WJLT) and WBKR and flipped WKDQ to country in 1992. The station instantly became a success, supplanting WYNG and WBKR and eventually WYNG was isolated to a rimshot signal and then completly eliminated in favor of Sports Talk under ESPN Radio. (Ironically, WYNG and WBKR were both clustered with WKDQ in 2000 and WBKR is still owned by Regent along with WKDQ, WYNG was sold to Russ Withers and went AC. WKDQ still is the top rated station in Evansville to this day despite the presence of sister WBKR(though WBKR more or less targets Owensboro) and a new rival, WLFW(formerly WJPS) owned by South Central
