Woman in the mask
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The woman in the mask" became the name used for the subject of several photos, some by the Associated Press, that became iconic of the 7 July 2005 London bombings.
The woman is Davinia Turrell, a barrister (aged 24 at the time of the photography) who suffered facial burns during the attack on the Edgware Road Tube station. She is depicted being led to safety by Paul Dadge, a former part time firefighter, who had given her first aid and placed a gel mask on her face to soothe her burns.
A few days after the attacks, Ms. Turrell was identified and reported to be recovering well in hospital. Her family thanked Mr. Dadge and said she had expressed a desire to meet him later.
