Talk:Woodhouse railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] First Paragraph
Can I ask, what does this section mean? It's really poorly written!
Woodhouse railway station serves the Woodhouse and Woodhouse Mill suburbs of Sheffield and the Parish of Orgreave in Rotherham, all of which are locoated in South Yorkshire, England. The station is 8 km (5¼ miles) east of Sheffield railway station on the Sheffield-Lincoln line. Because of its situation near to Woodhouse (East) Junction the station immediately eastwards was originally Kiveton Park, but following its opening in 1907 until its closure in 1955 it was Waleswood. Since 1955 the next station eastwards is Kiveton Bridge. To the west the next station is Darnall, and to the south Beighton.
- I admit it's not the clearest of texts. I've edited Tudorminstrel's version which is hopefully more comprehensible. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 19:18, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

- Ah! I understand. It used to have east-, west- and south-bound lines! Thanks Captain, much clearer now!

[edit] Red link mayhem
I have once again unlinked Birley Branch and Orgreave colliery which are treated in the article itself. since a link would serve (at the present) to no more than redirecting to the present article, the links should be kept off. Furthermore, since notability issues exist, it would be more advantageous to explain at least the Birley Branch in the Woodhouse station article as we'd avoid creating a world or unexpandable stubs. Red linking is not condemnable, but in this cas eI believe it is in the best interest of clarity not to. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 11:39, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate info
Captain Scarlet insists on removing the stn art lnk template to remove duplicate information (presumably the link to WDH on the Network Rail site). In order to try to prevent an edit war over this, I suggest a temporary solution - I've commented out the WDH link in the infobox and reinstated the stn art link as this also contains important information not shown elsewhere - namely the link to a map. Feel free to revert this after an alternative map link has been provided. Unfortunately the coords system doesn't recognise GBOS coordinates, so someone will have to do a conversion.– Tivedshambo (talk) 16:18, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
