The Embassy World Snooker Championship took place at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield between the 21st April to the 7th May 1984. Future World Champions Joe Johnson and John Parrott made their debuts. Parrott beat the 1983 semi-finalist Tony Knowles 10-7 in the first round.
