[edit] UFOs
No mention of the UFO contraversy, particularly Barry Goldwater's claim that the U.S. had collected UFO evidence at this base? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.203.106.145 (talk • contribs) 16:42, June 24, 2006 (UTC)
- see Wright-Patterson Air Force Base#History, also see Roswell UFO incident. Also see discussion further down on this page. --rogerd 00:44, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
^ I looked and found nothing (see MY comment below -- "From excessive detail to NO MENTION" etc. 199.214.26.24 21:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image
Is the Air Force Museum actually on the base? The picture is of the part of the museum which is on old Wright Field. There are some exhibits for which you have to take a bus onto the actual grounds of the base, but I was curious if it is proper to actually say the museum is on the base or not (and thus the image not being representative of Wright-Patt at all). - I put that there. The Museum is at Wright Field, which is part of the base. The part of Wright Field that the museum sits on is outside the secured portion of Wright Field, but it is still part of the AFB. I put there because I thought that since there were no other photos, this would be better than nothing. If you have an image that is more representative of WPAFB, feel free to add it and either move the Museum photo further down the page, or remove it.--Rogerd 15:08, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
To support Rogerd, the Museum is on base, is patrolled by Air Force Security Forces (used to be called the Security Police), and is closed nightly. There is also a security plan protecting the old flightline and the ASD buildings on the hill, recognizing that the Museum is a weak spot in base security.--131.238.92.62 09:06, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Roswell Incident
The Roswell Incident has its own page, so does it really need to be discussed in this article? Willy Logan 14:58, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
- I totally agree, some of these side topics sometimes threaten to take over articles with trivial information. --Rogerd 15:08, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
hiLARious -- now that the "clean up" of this article is (apparently) completed, searching for the obvious keywords "UFO" or "Roswell" on the page comes up empty. From excessive detail to NO MENTION? Can't someone find a way to provide a compromise? Along the lines of how the September11th articles mention and link to "alternative theories" without including all the details of those theories?
Like perhaps simply saying in the history section: Wright Field has been alleged to be the final destination for the debris from the 1947 Roswell UFO Incident (link to Roswell_UFO_incident ) ?? Any better suggestions? 199.214.26.24 21:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Nephew or Son?
This article lists Frank Patterson (pilot killed of whom the base is named after) as son and nephew of NCR co-founder. (First paragraph and under the "history" section.) I'm not sure which he is, but I wondered if anyone can clean this up.
[edit] Runway lengths?
Shows runway as ft = 3,841, m = 12,601. A ft is about .3 m, so something is wrong here.
[edit] Commanding Officer's and Other History
Could someone please include in this article, a list of all the CO's that ran the base since its installation, as well as include the FACT that this was where the Roswell spacecraft was kept before the installation of Area 51 was completed.
Hey, if it was on the History Channel, it must have been true!
That is all. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.161.23.196 (talk) 13:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC).
