- I personally hope that the next context will be a diagram contest (non-photographic illustrations for articles). Pleeeeease! :-) — David Remahl 07:58, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I like this idea. — mark ✎ 21:41, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Good idea. Neutralitytalk 00:20, Dec 28, 2004 (UTC)
- An Extreme article deletion contest. — Kate Turner | Talk 01:57, 2004 Nov 16 (UTC)
- Best VfD save, i.e. fix an article that has been listed for deletion (by someone else) so that it is inconceivable that anyone would still want to see it deleted. — David Remahl 02:06, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I like this idea a lot. On any day we're pushing 50 VfD nominations, so over 3 weeks thats perhaps 1000 potential targets. Plenty of nominations are made because the article is so bad as to be percieved useless, or with supposedly no potential beyond a dicdef, or because the topic googles poorly. Cool Hand Luke 09:51, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Best translation of an article from another Wikipedia. English version should be non-existent or stub prior to the competition. — David Remahl 02:52, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Best Tree of Life article: User creates or improves a stub of a phylogenic classification, such as Maxillopoda (the class including barnacles), Homo ergaster (a species of human ancestor), or Thylacosmilus (a bizarre marsupial saber-toothed cat) — ClockworkTroll 06:07, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I propose to transfer the contest temporarily to meta-wiki and award the best essay about wikipedia --Elian 00:53, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Good for a longer-term contest
- How about a contest to remove articles from the "needs attention" list? EagleFalconn 16:14, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- a contest for writing "missing" articles red-linked on at least five pages? (must have the red-links before the contest starts). Grutness 12:23, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- or best save from the Cleanup list? Rules as for the VfD save one listed by David Remahl. Grutness 12:23, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Best collaboration between three of more editors on a (?new) article. Or some other sort of collaboration. -- Solipsist 16:09, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Best redeeming of a long messy article by one or more editors. Filiocht 13:08, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Most FAC fixes - person who guides most articles through FAC fixing all actionable objections. JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 17:19, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe less spectacular, but well worth a try: adapting an entry from one of the public domain encyclopaedias (1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica, A Short Biographical Dictionary of English Literature, Catholic Encyclopedia, whatever)—wikifying, NPOVing, updating, adding an image/images, reasonably linking the new article from as many other pages as possible. <KF> 18:37, Dec 13, 2004 (UTC)
- Best stub-to-feature from WP:Bias. (but I'm biased) - Xed 00:31, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Making a CIA data dump of a geography of... article into a featured article. Neutralitytalk 00:18, Dec 28, 2004 (UTC)
- Wow — If we're looking for a real challenge, this is it. — mark ✎ 00:41, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- <selfpromotion>Not that hard. Look what I did with Geography of Côte d'Ivoire</selfpromotion> Neutralitytalk 03:43, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC)
