WSKG-TV is a public television station in Binghamton, New York, broadcasting locally on channel 46 as a PBS member station. It is owned and operated by the WSKG Public Telecommunications Council, Inc.. The station's offices are based in Vestal, New York.
WSKG-TV also operates a WSKG-DT (42), which had begun it's broadcast at the end of 2003. WSKG-DT is divided up into two channels, 46-1 which casts the PBS HD channel, and 46-2 which simulcasts the stations analog channel.
WSKG-DT will soon be broadcasting Create TV on 46-3.
The station was named for Stanley Kiehl Gambell, a prominent local clergyman who was active in children's television programming.
WSKG-FM and WSQX-FM are other broadcast stations operated by the same non-profit corporation.
The station also filed a construction permit to build another station, WSKA-DT channel 30 in Corning, New York. WSKA-DT had begun broadcasting as of fall 2006 and is a repeater station of WSKG-DT.
WSKG-TV once had many translators in operation across the southern tier of NY. Due to high operating costs, WSKG ceased the broadcasts, and surrendered the licenses of almoast all of their Television translators. W60AD is their only TV translator remaining. It is located in Savona NY, broadcasts on channel 60, and has an ERP of only 650 watts.
