XF5700 Mantis (or XF5700 Mantis Experimental Fighter, its full name), is a space simulator made by MicroPlay Software in 1992.
[edit] Plot
Basically a "Defend Earth from the Menace"-type game, with a twist: realistic space physics. 90 missions were inside the game to present a challenge.
[edit] Gameplay
Although the physics sound like they would work perfectly, the end result turned out to be extremely hard. The fighter AI were usually on suicide paths, and you get ejected (Dishonorably Discharged) from the game if you eject from your Mantis too many times (about 3 ejects and you're out) and destroys the save game ADOM-style.
