Should this article be in Category:Cities in Tibet? Granted, most of Qinghai is historically Tibetan, but I'm not sure that Xining has ever been a Tibetan city. - Nat Krause(Talk!) 05:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Xining was controlled by Tibet for a couple hundred years I think, around 6 or 700 AD. - Coriat 01:59, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Xining was part of China for quite a long time and got lots of different names, the name Xining first appeared in Bei Wei period. However, after the rising of the Tibetan empire, this area was controlled by the Tibetan people. In the warlord period, this place was controlled by the Muslims from Gansu province, thus Xining became a Muslim area.
