XX is the seventeenth episode in the fourth series of the popular American crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, set in Las Vegas, Nevada.
[edit] Plot Summary
Catherine, Sara and Nick start by investigating the body of a female prison inmate found tied to the underside of a bus. Their first thought is that she died while attepting to escape from the jail. But later, during the autopsy, it is revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the wounds from the bus ride are post-mortem.
On the bus, remnants of seminal fluid are found, toward the back. During the investigation, they also find that the victim was pregnant. From there, they go and talk to the inmate's previous cell partner to find that the cell partner was in love with the deceased. When the DNA comes back on the seminal fluid, the CSIs discover that it belonged to the bus driver and that he was the father of the victim's child.
In the end, Nick and Sara realise that the damage done to the victim's skull was probably caused by a padlock-shaped object. Further investigation shows that the victim's previous cell mate had blood on her sock, suggesting that she killed the victim with what Catherine calls "a lock in a sock". The inmate had discovered her lover's pregnancy and thought that she had transferred out of their cell as a rejection and so she killed the deceased out of anger and revenge. Afterward, she tied her to the bottom of the bus.
Meanwhile, Grissom and Warrick investigate the brutal stabbing of a man in his special needs brother's apartment.
