Yakamia is an inner suburb of Albany. The suburb was created in the 1970's, and has been extending ever since.

Yakamia is mostly bounded by North road to it's south and Chester Pass Road to its West. Yakamia Creek runs through the suburb.

Yakamia is a residential suburb, and used to consist of alot of bushland but this has slowly disappeared with bush making way for new housing developements. The suburb has one school within it which is Yakamia Primary School, it opened in the mid 1980's and now has a population of around 700 students. There is also a small shopping centre on North Road. High School students have a wide range of schools to opt for such as Albany Senior High School, North Albany Senior High School or the private catholic school of St Joseph's College. The City Of Albany's council offices are also located in Yakamia along North Road.
