Yavarate
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yavarate is a town in the department of Vaupés, in Colombia. It is located around the south-east of the department, close to the neighboring country of Brazil.
I (Jorge Sanchez, a Spanish traveler) was in Yavarate some years ago. I arrived there after a long journey by motor boats and on foot from Sao Gabriel da Cachoeira, in Brazil. In Yavarate lived ten families of Guananos and a corregidor together with two soldiers. I had to wait two weeks in Yavarate until a small plane came to take me to Mitu, in Vaupes, and then to Villavicencio and Bogota. Yavarate is a very remote and hard reaching Colombian village.
