"You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart" is a song recorded by British pop music duo Eurythmics. It was written by group members Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart and produced by Stewart.
The song appears on the duo's album Savage and was released as its fourth single in the UK and the second in the United States. The song is driven by a drum machine and is a mostly synth-based pop song. Lyrically Lennox sings of mustering the power to leave a destructive relationship with a lover who does not return the affection she deserves ("...a woman's just too tired to think / about the dirty ol' dishes / in the kitchen sink").
The song's music video was the conclusion of a video trilogy directed by Sophie Muller (the first two parts being for the songs "Beethoven (I Love to Listen to)" and "I Need a Man"). In it, Lennox's character leaves behind her former housewife and disco diva personas as she puts painful relationship woes behind her and finds new love.
"You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart" was the second of two singles released in the United States from the Savage album. It climbed to number sixty-four on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was a top-twenty success in the UK, peaking at number sixteen in the UK singles chart.
