[edit] Realism
YSFlight was offten criticised for dodgy realism, or unrealistic plane looks. The game models were often blocky, many having no windows, and poor texture mapping. However, with new modders emerging all the time this is quickly being changed. An English speaking fan group can be found at http://www.yspilots.com.
The game might not appeal to users of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 or later, but is ideal for people who want a free flight simulator. It is a very rare simulator that does not use textures much, while even the most simple simulator has a lot of textures. Have at least one try at; as it can also be very useful to learn basic flight manoevers for a beginner pilot . Several virtual fighter squadrons based on YS flight simulation can be found on the net.
[edit] Network/Multiplay
YSFlight has the ability to support a number of users playing the game when a person creates a server. The multiplayer aspect is free, and adds to the overall experience of the game. The aforementioned virtual squadrons usually have personal servers, devoted entirely towards training.
[edit] Mod Community
Currently, YSFlight has hundreds of mods available for download. These mods usually:
A) Add more vehicles
B) Add new maps
C) Offer new paint schemes for existing vehicles
A large mod database can be found at YS Pilots Add On Links
