[edit] History
The Zamoyski family was a powerful magnate family whose members influenced Polish politics and history for almost 400 years. The history of the family starts in the early 15th century. The family originated from Łaźnin in Masovia. Tomasz Łaźniński bought a large estate in the Stara Zamość region. His sons Florian and Maciej began to use the name Zamoyski. The rise to power of the family dates from the career of Great Crown Chancellor and Great Crown Hetman Jan Zamoyski. In 1778 the family received the title of Count.
