[edit] ZayZayEM?
This is my username for just about everything I ever use. First used in 2001 in the creation of a hotmail account, after finding that Michael Zimmer is an incredibly common name. It came from a reversal of my intials, MAZ to become 'z'-'ay'-'em' and the zay was just repeated for effect (I blame the recent launch of Ali G on the ABC for this). Capitalization is optional. Don't know quite why I resurrected it for Wiki. It looks snazzy i guess.
factoids I've recently found, or added to Wikipedia
- a medievil explanation for cotton was that there was a plant that grew sheep as fruit
- around 20 Haredi rabbis banned poor Natan Slifkin's books becasue he suggested a realistic figure for the age of the universe.
- William Shatner collaborated with Ben Folds to create a cover of Folds' hit "Rockin' the Suburbs" for Dreamworks' animated feature Over the Hedge
- that Brimstone was the original popular word for sulfur? (fine... I didn't)
- Brawling, in legal terms, refers to the offence of quarreling on church property?
The next place to be assaulted by zayzayem (aka. ZZ) was the wonderful world of SparkNotes[1]. I'd been a fan of their earlier projects with TheSpark.com (now in Sparklife - sadly no Date My Sister Project) and was eager to join the slightly more serious eduaction-orientated SN. Not that i really accomplished anything too educational. Mostly full of annoying "HELMPE PLZ NEED BY TOMMROWZ EXM" requests, occasional spam, and incessant trolling, a lotb of teh action was focused on the Current events message board rather than actual study help with many obscure boards being quite ignored. Though I will admit that the massive amount of time I wasted on the CE Board did actually stir up a few good discussions, broaden some of my views, and teach me about fallacies and poor debating skills. Taking a brief look at the state of affairs their recently really weirds me out. When message board freaks start to actually weird you out, it's time to move on.
ZayZayEM can also be found on other messageboards about the place, computer games, software tech support, science, news and other things that interest (or bug me).
I have two blogs. My main one: Kickin' moron ass since 2002/Better than a knife in the eye; and a new Japanese one: 日本語で出来る.
In reality I'm actually a young, male, Australian biomedical scientist interested in almost everything. Born 18 January 1985, in Melbourne.
Studied at St Brendan's College and Central Queensland University. Haven't worked a lot. Worked in 2005 for Amity/AEON in Hitachi city, Ibaraki, Japan. Currently doing an honours project detecting and sequencing gene expression of IL-2 and IFNγ in two Dasyurid marsupials; the Phascogale (or Wambenger) and Mulgara. I work weekends at a local Rydges resort, Centrelink and a CQU scholarship.

I found Wiki in mid-2004 and actually started using it as a useful tool in September for quick preliminary assignment work and clarification of terms in addition to sites such as Dictionary.com, AcronymFinder.com and kartoo, the almighty map-based meta-search engine.
My first article-like article was toll-like receptors, big thanks to Lexor who unjarbled my information and gave me some good pointers.
I killed Australian Collaboration of the Week (now fortnight), I'm sorry to all. I made it so much better by running off to Japan. Other than its low-profile in terms of admin and projects. I do nominate things for deletion and merging though.
I'm currently transferring stuff from my parents' copy of Modern World Encyclopedia circa 1935. Not planning on too many other big projects just yet. Real life does take precendence to wiki-life for me. Besides I'm planning on getting a World of Warcraft addiction soon.
Other pages I will edit or create will probably be related to Australia, Central Queensland, health, science, anime and other miscellaneous crap. I can be bold, so get off my back.
If you are that interested you can check out my list of contributions.
