Zayed bin Khalifa

Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan is the grandfather of the establisher of the United Arab Emirates. He was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates around 1840 and ruled the Emirate after killing his cousin Shiekh Saeed Bin Tahnoon.
He was a strong leader and all tribes along his Emirates treated him with respect. During his rule, he engaged in several internal and external battles. These included the war against the Saudi troops in Buraimi (1865-1870), the war against the Qasimi Family in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah (1866-1868) and the long war against Qatar around the 1880s. The borders of the Emirate extended three times to reach near Qatar and to touch the Rub' Al Khali in the south.
He was also a pearl diving fleet owner and a merchant that helped other people around Emirates financially and served as a wise father.
