Zeta Sigma Alpha is an academic and social sorority at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Zeta Sigma Alpha was founded upon the ideals of loyalty, honor, trust, and friendship. Our proud founding sisters decided that they wanted to start a sisterhood that would be perfect for them – something different and unique from the all other collegiate sororities. During a recruitment discussion between Aysha Mirza and some of the members of the Delta Chi Fraternity, the idea of forming a fresh and sincere sisterhood at Rutgers University was fashioned. Thus, Zeta Sigma Alpha Sorority was formed on Saturday, January 11th, 2003, in the meeting room of Delta Chi Fraternity at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. With Lauren Dolbier (now Vicari), the beginnings of a genuine collegiate social sorority were founded and the light of Zeta was lit for future sisters to carry. The Founders’ Circle was completed with the addition of Audrey Tanczos on Thursday, July 10th, 2003, at The Office Beer Bar & Grill in Bridgewater, NJ. Until it burnt down in Spring 2004, late Café 52 was the site of Zeta founding, planning, and activities.

Aysha and Audrey successfully pledged a Beta class in spring of 2004 and in the fall of 2004 Gamma class was formed. With the Founders’ Circle gone, Veronica Crow of Gamma class kept the light of Zeta alive. Instilled with Zeta’s values, Veronica’s goal was to continue to create a sorority that was different from the rest: an academic and social sorority with as many different types of girls as possible. There should be no specific number of girls to fill a quota. Not only that, but Veronica feels that you should be yourself in a sorority and not have to fit a specific type or mold like in other sororities. Veronica believes that diversity should bring people together and not apart. From Veronica’s intervention, the light of the Zeta Sigma Alpha sisterhood continues to live on bright and strong.

Zeta Sigma Alpha's main philantropy is with Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Awareness. Zeta Sigma Alpha also contributes to other organizations such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
