Zongshen 250 GS
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Model History
It is the descendant of Zongshen's previous lower displacement models, that gained recognition to be sold in several confirmed countries, namely China (itself), Philippines, Turkey and the United States. The predecessors were Zongshen 150 GS and Zongshen 200 GS, which were sold in Philippines and Turkey under different brand names: Motorstar and Hausmotors in the Philippines, and Zealsun in Turkey.
The predecessors served as an introduction for the 250GS, by gaining popularity due to its low cost price. Such traits allowed the bike to be used as a daily economical ride for commuters. The Zongshen GS series however, are very difficult to maneuver and is similar in weight to current 1000cc liter sportsbikes with its claimed 165kgs dry weight.
Specialty Market Impact
The predecessors' popularity in the Philippines, allowed a nation-wide motorcycle rider's club to be formed from the NCR to Cebu City. The club was named Xplorers Philippines, after the bike's model Xplorer z200 as sold under Motorstar in the Philippines. The group is exclusive only to owners of 200GS regardless of the brands. Clearly the product has made serious headway in penetrating the Philippine market. A perusal of the pages of the local motorcycle forum (information from contributor DProvostMarshall), motorcyclephilippines.com, shows the increasing number of forumers who owns the bike, in spite of constant attacks by other forumers. It is quite perplexing how evident descriminations come into being even in the web. In fact, this wikipedia article about the model have been deliberately edited several times with biased additions, and removal of factual information that destroyed the content as written by the original author.
