冰岛语（Íslenska）属于日耳曼语族的斯堪的那维亚语支（北日耳曼语支），古代北欧人使用的语言（或稱古諾斯語），現代冰岛的官方语言。詞彙的拼法、語法在近一千年變化不大，現代冰島人不須花太大力氣即能閱讀古代作品。
