天佑新西兰

天佑新西兰(毛利語/英語：God Defend New Zealand)與天佑吾王都是紐西蘭的國歌，地位等同。不過，現時無論是學校週會還是國家代表隊出外比賽，一般都只會用“天佑紐西蘭”這一首歌；與此同時，紐西蘭民眾一般都未為意國家原來有兩位地位等同的國歌。

有關紐西蘭國歌的應用，由紐西蘭文化及傳統部負責管理。

“天佑紐西蘭”的歌詞本來是一首詩，於1870年代由Thomas Bracken所創作。1876年，有人為了替這首詩譜上音樂而舉辦了一次比賽，獲勝者可以得到十個金镑結果這次比賽由John Joseph Woods勝出。據聞他就在發現比賽通告的當晚就寫好這首樂曲。

在19世紀到20世紀初期，這首歌的受歡迎程度一直有增無減。1940年，紐西蘭政府正式購入這首歌的版權，並在建國100周年時宣布訂定這首歌為國詠。1976年，國會提出動議，要求訂立這首歌為國歌。在取得英女王伊莉沙白二世的情況下，本歌正式於1977年 11月21日成為紐西蘭的第二首國歌。

1978年 6月1日，內政部宣佈他們為這首國歌重新編曲，以使之更適合大眾演唱，並請了當時的名歌聲Maxwell Fernie演唱這首新歌。

自1950年的大英帝國運動會起,紐西蘭就把它當成國歌。在1972年慕尼黑奧運當中,第一次在奧運時使用“天佑紐西蘭”來當成紐西蘭的國歌。

“天佑紐西蘭”總共有五段歌詞。原文只有英語版本，但後來當原住民的利益重新得到確認，開始出現了毛利語版本的歌詞。一般來說，我們日常生活只會採用歌詞的第一段。而根據紐西蘭的習慣，唱國歌之時會先唱毛利語版本，然後才唱英語版本。

在非常罕見的情況下，英語歌詞的第二段亦會唱。

英文歌词的两端注释的中文意思：《上帝保佑新西兰》的歌词于1948年确定，在这时这段词的作者已经过逝50多年。

At least two Māori versions have been made. The first by Thomas H. Smith of Auckland, a judge in the Native Land Court, on request of governor George Edward Grey in 1878, and the second by former Māori Language Commissioner, Professor Timoti S. Käretu, commissioned in 1979.
