Ace Class Shadow or ACS is a Wikipedian known for his colorful behavior and active status in the Wikipedia community. He sometimes writes (or types), referring to himself in the third person, but usually in this page and edit summaries for talk page commentary.

[edit] Page history
ACS created this userpage somewhat accidentally when he thought someone had already edited it. As a result, he began to take an interest, putting a decent amount of time and energy into it during the days of Thursday (April 27, 2006), Friday (April 28, 2006) and Sunday (January 7/8th, 2007). However, an overall decline in and lack of edits seems to indicate that he has, for time being, decided to edit actual articles as his main priority. Thus, it is highly likely that he will only edit this page when he has the time and/or finds the currently displayed data to be inaccurate. ACS' user page and talk page became frequent vandalism targets in the month of January.
[edit] General user information
The information listed to the right in userboxes is semi-random stuff about me. For more specific information, check out the following subcategories below. I may go, somewhat randomly, from third person to first person and back.
|
[edit] Contact ACS
Use this information sparingly, and only if you must bypass talk pages and contact me directly.
[edit] Education
I use the loose definitions of "Teacher" and "Academic" as I don't get paid for my many efforts. The other stuff is self-explanatory, right? Right.
[edit] Languages
Gidday, Hello, Bonjor, so on and so forth. This is my languages section. Use this to assess whether or not I can understand varying languages at varying levels. (I'm aces with english, BTW.) Please do not ask me to edit anything written in one of the languages listed in pink/tan. The point of this section is to categorize myself, helping others who may need someone who. say, has a passing understanding of "leetspeak". It is important to note that although I am a linguist, I cannot be expected to understand all languages. "Linguist" does not equal "interpreter". Ask Nicole Kidman. She was in that craptastic movie, not I. Anyway, forgive me for ranting. Another important thing to remember are the levels. "1" doesn't equal Bi-lingual. For example, you might know a little french or spanish, but do you have any idea what "gringo" means? Heh. Didn't think so. Same here.
[edit] Activity
ACS has generally shown himself to be fairly active within Wikipedia, though there was a period when he outright ceased editing, followed by a slow return to his Wikipedian tasks. Currently, he can be found most editing most often during the afternoon and usually finishes late into the evening. He denounces "wiki-breaks" as "lame" and admits that being a great Wikipedian requires a lot of free time on a weekly basis.
[edit] Wikiproject memberships
Note: I'm only part of this wiki...comics thing by default. I like it and everything, but i help out periodically. Don't go tryin' to make me do stuff on a more serious and active basis. Frankly, I'm only part of each of these groups because of many small things I did to inadvertantly assist them. Then again, I guess my actions matter more than my intentions. My intentions were and still are to improve wikipedia. Wow. That sounds kinda speechy and preachy. Not my intent, either. The results of my actions seem to often differ from my intentions. Ha!
[edit] Sports
Yeah, that's right. I play; I'm a playah.
[edit] Computer stuff
No Mac cracks. See?
[edit] Eating (habits)
I hate eating. No, really. I can barely stand it. If I could somehow sustain myself another way, I would. As Austin said, "eat to live, don't live to eat."
[edit] Interests
The Ace is interested in a variety of things. Mostly, things with action which relate to (super)hero(ic)s/heroes/heroine(s).
[edit] Animé
It's decent, okay? I watch it, just like I'd watch any other animated thing. It's not an obsession and I don't think anymore highly of it than most other mediums. Still, I think we all can agree some "American" (US) animation just sucks. Though, that's generally just on crappy channels/blocks, such as Nickelodeon and Adult Swim.
[edit] Literature
My favorite subject being English, and my preferred profession being writer, I tend to enjoy a good read. I'm not bookish by any means, but I love information and fiction, especially news and comics, respectively. For example, I enjoyed reading about Yo Mama. Heh.
[edit] Vehicles
ACS wants the full package: a motorcycle and a small truck or van of some sort to house it in.
[edit] Math
Endless Pi. Bet you wish you could eat it.
[edit] Gaming
“ | I'll tell you the ultimate secret to solving a Rubik's cube: Any runt can do it. | ” |
[edit] TV
Love it. No...that's going too far. It's okay, but I won't die without it.
[edit] Movies
Or, alternately, films. I like 'em. Well, I like some. Not all, though. For example, I think Cars was utter crap.
[edit] Sense of humor and
Some people don't think the Ace is funny; They merely don't get him. Though somewhat manic and passive-aggressive at times, the Ace is overall just trying to amuse. Sometimes, he admits, he amuses himself at the expense of others. "Nevertheless," he says, the community is usually his main "audience" rather than his sheep. In fact, he even goes as far as to quote an Arcade Clown, saying: "I just wanted to make you laugh!" Don't mind the Joker references; he swears they're harmless.
[edit] Lifestyle
I hope the suggestive titling isn't wasted on you.
[edit] Skills
They're mad, I tells ya! Mad! That is to say, my skills are of high end quality. (Mad skills. Get it?)
[edit] Names and terminology
I've been called many things. About time I made a list or something.
- A gang member, by Elonka.
- An alpha male, by Anticrash.
- A "Collective Liar" by a GIPU vandal.
[edit] GIPU
To this day, certain people become curious about this term. "What is it? What does it mean? Is it real? Is it derogatory? How did it originate?"
I can answer most of that. From acronymfinder.com and a mirror at acronyms.thefreedictionary, it's a acronym for "Given internet protocol user". Simply put, I use it in reference to unregistered user of he site. Borrowing again from the sites, it's based in "Information technology & computers" and "Slang/chat, popular culture". From what I understand, the term started appearing sometime in the 2000s. (Crap article, BTW.) I picked it up and started using it around the 'pedia. It caught on, somewhat. Let me be clear, though; I make not claims of originality.
[edit] Trivia
- In the month of July, 2006, ACS was impersonated by a rogue GIPU. During the time before he was caught, the GIPU was known for making rude, insulting talk page comments and other such behavior which would obviously be beneath ACS. The attempted impersonation was also likely more of a weak attempt at redirecting blame to ACS, rather than emulate him. As evidence by the fact that the GIPU could/would not ever sign their comments in a way to matched ACS' style, they were basically little more than a poor forger.
- Since July Nineteenth, 2006, a GIPU with the IP has begun editting ACS' talk page and adding Acisms. (Acisms are quotes from an Ace, such as ACS, in this case.) The GIPU seems to be motivated by what they feel was an unjustified warning. As a result, they have likely been looking for, and subsequently, adding Acisms in an attempt to show ACS' true character. However, most disputes with ACS have been settled as of July 21, 2006 and few would argue would the fact that ACS is, indeed, a colorful Wikipedian. So far, ACS' only feelings on the matter seem to be that the Acisms are cute and remind him of fond memories.
- As of August that same year, the GIPU appears to have ceased.
[edit] The promise
On January 2007, Wednesday the tenth, ACS promised that he would be an "example Wikipedian" or some such. As a result, he has acted with a strange, newfound civility and attempted to use edit summaries in a more traditional manner. It is not yet clear what, if anything, he may be up to.
[edit] Awards
If you wish to add whatever Barnster or other such indicator of great editting work on Wikipedia to ACS page, add them to this section.
