[edit] More stuff about me
I'm a 24-year old student at Pisa, Italy (yeah, the city of the leaning tower), where I have been living since 2000.
I already own a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, obtained on October 2004, and now I'm trying to finally end all my remaining exams as soon as possible, even though the will to study is rapidly giving up on me.
I also had an exchange student experience, from January to May 2004, at the University of Ottawa, located in the capital city of Canada. I really loved Canada, and it's not so obvious for a Sicilian guy to be impressed by a place in which it snows and is cold every day!
Anyway, if you'd look for me, be aware that, when I'm not into the faculty rooms for some classes and I'm not drinking rivers of beers, you could find me either at my home playing my own songs with an electric, acoustic or bass guitar, or at the Sports Services (CUS Pisa [2]) to coach one of the teams I manage and lead (mainly soccer, but I had also a basketball stint in 2005) at the Intramural University Leagues here in Pisa.
Another thing I really love is traveling around the world, especially unplanned trips. A short list of places which, according to me, deserve to be visited is available here.
About my interests in Computer Science, currently I am getting specialized on information retrieval, data mining and web mining issues. In addition, I have got two applications projects which can be found on SourceForge, a repository for open-source applications:
- Irudiko [3] (Basque for "similar"), a library for generating sketches, i.e. smaller representation of document, from any textual content, especially HTML pages;
- Zu Pippino [4] (Sicilian for "Uncle Joe"), a CMS/Wiki engine, written in PHP and compatible with the most common free DBMSs, such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
