Talk:Astalavista Security Group
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello,
I have been using Astalavista.com as far as I can remember myself. Compared to other search engines, this is perhaps the only one that warns visitors of possible web site infections, BEFORE they have visited the site, which is pretty evident.
Take care,
Jon
Folks,
Astalavista.com never had any legal trouble with Altavista.com because of their name - anyway where's the connection between the two of these?!
Jason
[edit] Wrong!
You can't deny Archive.org :
Back in 1997, the Astalavista.com's domain was actually Altavista.com's one :

Whereas, Astalavista.com originally appeared in 1999, Astalavista.box.sk was there back in 1997

[edit] Re:
But at the bottom line => Astalavista.com was the one truly evolving during the years!
== all wrong. @Jason: I do personally know of letters from Digital Corporation (back then the owners of Altavista) to the registrant of the domain name. Maybe it was for the name itself or for the content, that was a ripoff of the original altavista site (ripoff can be seen on http://web.archive.org/web/19970403073909/http://www.astalavista.com/ ) but Altavista never owned the astalavista.com domain. --Gulli 11:10, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
