Atrus heritage (Myst)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The heritage of Atrus is part of the Myst fictional universe.
Atrus's family is certainly the most-prominently featured one in the Myst franchise with four generations of ancestors known, and all three children mentioned on many occasions.

[edit] Notes
Although almost never attributed with dates, most marriages, births and deaths in this family are mentioned in the franchise's novels.
- Aitrus and Ti'ana decide to name their newborn child after Kahlis' father, which reveals his name (Gehn) in Myst: The Book of Ti'ana. The elder Gehn is described in the Book of Ti'ana as "a great man; or would have been if time had been kind to him." Kahlis' mother, on the other hand, never gets mentioned.
- Aitrus' parents appear many times in The Book of Ti'ana, as Ti'ana lives with them and Aitrus for a while.
- Aitrus and Ti'ana are two protagonists (in addition to Veovis) in The Book of Ti'ana. Ti'ana also plays a big role at the beginning and end of Myst: The Book of Atrus, as she takes care of her grandson Atrus.
- Gehn is born during The Book of Ti'ana and later blames his mother, Ti'ana, for the fall of the D'ni empire. He abandons his newborn son Atrus, then later, when Atrus is 14 years old and has been taught and raised by Ti'ana, Gehn decides to use him for his plans of resurrecting D'ni. Keta, Atrus' mother, dies giving birth to Atrus in the Prologue of The Book of Atrus, so little is known of her. She was a human from the surface, of the tribe of the Amad, but the Amad may have been related to the D'ni somehow. (See the article on Keta for more details).
- Katran first appears when Atrus Links to the Age of Riven, using a Linking Book placed in his prison room on K'veer by Gehn. It is later discovered that Katran met Ti'ana even before she met Atrus.
- Achenar and the younger Sirrus, the sons of Atrus and Katran/Catherine, are the villains the Stranger has to deal with in the game of Myst. They are trapped in prison Ages, written by Atrus. They again feature prominently in Myst IV - Revelation.
- Yeesha is the third child and only daughter of Atrus and Catherine, born in their house in Tomahna. As an adult, she scorns the pride of the D'ni culture and supports the Bahro, who in her opinion were wronged by the D'ni empire. She later believes herself to be The Grower, a figure in ancient D'ni prophecy who it was believed would restore D'ni.
