Berehove

Berehove (Ukrainian: Берегове; Rusyn: Берегово, translit. Berehowo; Hungarian: Beregszász; Romanian: Bereg; Russian: Берегово, translit. Beregowo, Czech and Slovak:Berehovo, German: Bergsaß) is a city located in the Zakarpattia Oblast (province) in western Ukraine, near the border with Hungary. Serving as the administrative center of the Berehivsky Raion (district), the city itself is also designated as a separate raion within the oblast.

The current estimated population is around 26,100 (as of 2004).

- 5.4% Russians

The parents of Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman lived there before emigrating to the United States.
